Conflicker Worm Lays Dormant
Apr 1st
An Internet worm that was predicted to infect Microsoft computers and computer networks on April Fools Day has laid dormant for now.
The worm, called Conflicker is believed to have infected thousands of Windows based machines and creates a ‘botnet’ that has the capability to send spam Emails and Denial Of Service attacks. It could also pilfer sensitive personal data like logins, credit cards and other sensitive information. But just because the worm hasn’t “hit the hole” doesn’t mean the internet is out of the woods yet – the writers of this malicious code could set the worm into action at any time.
People using Windows based computers are advised to stay current on updates. The most recent Windows update has a patch for the virus and most Antivirus programs are current with protection against the Conflicker.
For more information or to make sure your computer is up-to-date on security patches, please visit Microsoft Update
Google Launches Adsense For Games – Beta
Oct 9th
Google recently announced the beta launch of a new advertising product – Adsense for games.
The addition of this advertising product gives webmasters that publish or develop games a way to display video ads, image or text ads to their visitors in ways that are non-obtrusive to players. Publishers can define how and when they’d like the beta ads displayed, such as before a game starts, when a player advances to another level or after a game has ended.
In order to take part in Adsense for Games beta, publishers must have 500,000 game plays per day and have 80% of their traffic from the U.S. or the U.K. Qualified publishers can fill out an application
to the program here.

Gaylord Nelson – Creator Of ‘Earth Day’
Apr 22nd
If you’re busy celebrating Earth Day and you are curious about the history of it, here’s a little background on it.

Earth Day was created by Gaylord Nelson, a Wisconsin Senator in 1962. Mr. Nelson wanted to create awareness about our environment in a time when these concerns weren’t a focus in the political arena.
Despite presenting his thoughts and ideas, his “Earth Day” didn’t immediately take off. A grass roots movement in 1970 brought this day into the collective of Americans. Mr. Nelson said:
“Our goal is an environment of decency, quality, and mutual respect for all other human creatures and for all living creatures. The battle to restore a proper relationship between man and his environment, between man and other living creatures will require a long, sustained, political, moral, ethical, and financial commitment — far beyond any effort made before.”
All these years later Gaylord Nelson’s vision brings communities, countries and people together for a single minded purpose – to make our environment a better place for today, tomorrow and decades to come.

Welcome Hexapus
Mar 4th
I’ve always maintained that there are millions of living creatures that humans don’t know about – especially when it comes to life forms under water. The Hexapus is one of these creatures that’s just been found.

The hexapus, now known as “Henry” was born with six legs instead of eight. It’s believed it is a birth defect. Henry was pulled up in a lobster trap on the Wales coast about two weeks ago.
Henry the hexapus was picked up by the Blackpool Sea Life Centre in England.
It’s another great addition to science only time will tell if there are more to be found..

Bell was an inventor, scientist and innovator.
When you hear the familiar ring today, be sure to thank Mr. Bell for his great invention – the phone.
