Don’t Forget About Your Existing Customers!
October 2, 2006 – 2:30 pmOne of the biggest mistakes any business can make is to lose contact with people that have done business with you in the past.

Keep In Touch!
This idea isn’t new, in fact it’s the first thing that you’ll read about in most marketing books available today. People that have already done business with you in the past are prime candidates to do business with you again, provided they remember you!
Marketing mimicks real life, so I try to apply real life observations into effective marketing.
One very true statement is “Out of sight, out of mind.” If your customers aren’t thinking about you how will they remember to come back later?
People tend to have short attention spans and that can mean that a one time sale could be a flash in the pan for you as a business owner. If you work to establish a business relationship, this “one time” customer could be a “repeat customer” that returns to purchase other related products or services or gives personal recommendations to friends, relatives and other peers. In an ideal world your customers do both.
There are many ways to creatively keep in contact with your clients. Both our insurance agent and our auto salesman send us a birthday card every year, keeping their names in our consciousness should we require a new car or additional insurance products.
Internet based businesses have the power of using permission based opt in mailings to keep in contact with customers and offer product news, offers and discounts or other incentives to visitors of their website, so having an online presence can be very profitable for you.
Never lose touch with the most important part of any successful business, your customer!
