Getting Links From Indexed Pages Is Important
April 20, 2007 – 7:35 pmIf you count on achieving high search engine rankings, you’ve often heard how important it is to get “links” to your web pages. Of course this is true, but some links are much more beneficial than others. The best page you can get a link from is one from a page that’s already indexed in all of the major search engines. If it’s a page that has a great number of incoming links, all the better.
Most webmasters who have well-indexed websites generally know the value of their indexed pages. They know that a link from their web page will help boost someone else’s website rankings, so they generally aren’t just giving links away. You can still get one-way free links from certain webmasters, but to get links from well-indexed pages generally takes social skills or cash.
With Google copping an attitude about link sales, it pushes the topic to the forefront of debate in the webmaster community. It’s Google who first implemented the link popularity version of search engine rankings, so they should shoulder much of the blame for the fact that people expect renumeration for quality links.
No matter what happens with Google, always try and get your incoming links from web pages that are already indexed in Google, and look for these characteristics:
1) The page is indexed in Google
2) The page has a number of incoming links
3) Your link is not re-directed or no-followed in any way.
These are the types of links that buyers have always looked for. Do you see this changing now?
