Google Clarifies Policies On Traffic Exchange Programs

April 13, 2007 – 2:37 pm

If you are participating in Google’s Adsense program, it’s always a good idea to stay on top of changes that are made in their terms of service, as violations of these terms could result in the termination of your Adsense account.

The folks over at the Adsense blog took a moment to help clarify their stance on traffic exchange programs.

Google strictly prohibit any means of artificially generating ad impressions or clicks, including third-party services such as paid-to-click, paid-to-surf, auto-surf, and click-exchange programs. These programs offer incentives for users to view web pages or click on ads, resulting in activity that is harmful to our advertisers.

Instead of using these programs, Google urges publishers to “Provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first,” and we feel this is ultimately the best way to attract more visitors to your site and build a truly loyal audience.

Now get to work!
