Google In Talks To Acquire Game Advertising Company Adscape Media
January 22, 2007 – 2:38 pmIt was recently reported that search engine turned media company Google is looking to extend advertising in an entire new media, game sponsorship.

According to The Fool, Google is in talks to acquire Adscape Media, a “in-game” advertising company that sells sponsorship ads within the video games people play. The deal between Google and Adscape could take place as early as this week.
These ads are dynamic, so the same ad will not display each time you play the game.
This type of advertising already generates 4 million dollars worth of revenue for Electronic Arts. CFO Warren Jenson explained that there are 180 “virtual billboards” available in the game “Need for Speed: Carbon.” These spots are “for rent” to marketers giving them the opportunity to subliminally advertise their business, product or service to gamers.
Google has already made moves into traditional advertising, including radio and print ads.
I’m sure another offline advertising venture would only compliment their online venture.
What do you think about in-game advertising? Does it affect your purchasing decisions?

I’m not sure how it will look like so i can’t really comment on it but its a really good adventure for Google.

It’s already being used. In most cases it’s probabbly so subtle you don’t even realize it..
You’re driving past a Pizza Hut or walk past a Coca-Cola pop machine.. things like that..
