Is Napster The Next Buyout Opportunity?

October 16, 2006 – 1:19 pm

There has been a lot of to-do about Google acquiring Youtube.com in a multi billion dollar deal, and now there’s talk that Napster might be the next in line to get absorbed by a much larger company.

According to an analyst named Darren Aftahi from ThinkEquity, Napster is in a great position to be bought out with he flurry of acquisition dollars being spent to increase market share of internet content. Companies mentioned as potential buyers included Google, Amazon and IAC/Interactive.

He also noted that Napster hired USB bank to advise them in a possible sale in September, so it sounds as if they are ready to make a move if presented with the “right” offer.

Perhaps it’s just a matter of time before Napster really hits it big time?
