In an unprecedented event, social networking website Myspace.com and MTV will host a number of Presidential discussions between U.S. presidential candidates and Internet viewers simultaneously.
This is the first large scale collaboration project between News Corp., owner of Myspace and Viacom, owner of MTV.
Members of the viewing MTV audience will be able to ask direct questions to the candidates and online viewers will be able to ask their questions via Email, instant messages or via TXT from their mobile phones.
“Neither of us wanted to see yet another event with a dozen candidates giving consultant-crafted answers,” MySpaceTV general manager Jeff Berman said in a telephone interview. The event aims to promote “unfiltered direct conversations.”
Questions from the audience sent through instant messaging software will be selected by moderators at the event and be presented to the candidate, executives said.
The event will also be broadcast on MTV and mtvU, a 24-hour college channel in more than 750 U.S. colleges.
This will be a part of MTV’s ongoing “Choose or Lose” campaign.
Will you take part in these discussions?
I say bring on the MySpace and music videos. I’m curious how all 11 of these will go down and how much time each candidate will get. Mostly what I’m curious about is who they will get to host…I say bring back Adam Curry to host!!! I also think Kanye and Diddy should get involved too…because they don’t have enough of the limelight at the moment…
