September 29, 2008 – 11:02 am

MySpace, a top social networking website and Paypal, an online payment processor have teamed up to help raise funds for non-profit organizations. Paypal and Myspace have developed a widget that allows users to raise funds for their favorite charity right on their profile page.

They are also offering cash and other prizes for top “fund raisers.”

Liba Rubenstein, Manager of Public Affairs for MySpace IMPACT, MySpace’s hub for social and civic engagement said, “MySpace’s social networking and multimedia tools are already invaluable resources for nonprofits, who use them to reach our global audience of more than 120 million users. Our partnership with PayPal allows members of MySpace’s global community to take action and make a positive impact on the world around them. We’re proud to work with PayPal to democratize philanthropy and show the power of small donations to drive big results.”

Celebrities including the Jonas Brothers, Vanessa Hudgens and Miley Cyrus are already raising funds for their favorite charities.
