YouTube Pulls Nearly 30,000 Copyright Violations From Servers

October 20, 2006 – 1:31 pm

It’s hard to say what the future holds for Youtube and their concerns about copyright laws, but today the Japan Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers made the popular video sharing website remove almost 30,000 video clips that were published without permission.

These clips included music videos and clips from movies and television.

Youtube responded quickly to the request filed on behalf of 23 Japanese entertainment companies that were affected by these illegal uploads, so Youtube’s 67 employees had some hustle work to do today.

Google is currently in talks to purchase Youtube for over 1 billion dollars in stock.

Youtube already has agreements with several media companies such as Warner, Sony and BMG to share revenues generated using copyrighted material submitted by users of the site.

What are your thoughts on Youtube? Do you use it often?
